Vice President of Development / Chief Philanthropy Officer
Nancy Herman joined the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation (NAHF) as Executive Director in February, 2017. In this role, she is responsible for all philanthropic initiatives and programs to support the mission, goals, and objectives of Norwegian American Hospital.
Ms. Herman has held senior leadership positions in non-profits, academia, and arts organizations for more than 25 years. Prior to joining NAHF, she served as interim director of planned giving for Northwestern Memorial Foundation; regional major gifts officer for the national office of The ALS Association; director of advancement for UIC College of Nursing; and program director of a research center in the Department of Neurology at the University of Chicago. She received a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and had a general law practice before returning to Chicago-Kent as the assistant dean of admissions and financial aid.
Ms. Herman has served on the boards of numerous arts and healthcare organizations in Chicago and is a member of Women in Development. She was a founding member and director of an independent, volunteer-run, non-profit arts organization and is a senior volunteer and adoption counselor at PAWS Chicago, the city’s largest no-kill animal shelter.
Olivia Sauls joined the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation as the Coordinator in December 2020. She is responsible for day-to-day Foundation administrative responsibilities, as well as managing the donor and grants databases, assisting with the annual Benefit planning, and working closely with the Board of Directors.
Ms. Sauls is a recent University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate, where she studied biology, environmental studies and nonprofit management. Her interest in social justice and community work emerged from her involvement with the Wisconsin Network for Peace, Justice and Sustainability in Madison as well as her internship with the Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
